Historical Overview

Spang Power Electronics was formed in 1953 as Kemco Corp, in our facility located in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania. In 1966, Kemco Corp was acquired by Spang & Company, followed by the acquisition of DMARC in Mentor, Ohio in 1999. The result of these two acquisitions is the company that is known today as Spang Power Electronics, which still operates under the umbrella of Spang & Company.

Spang & Company is a family owned, privately held company that was created in 1894, and has owned a variety of companies throughout the years. Currently, Spang & Company owns three divisions – Spang Power Electronics, Magnetics, and Spang Engineered Solutions.
